Benefits could be quite far reaching by Harri Jussila [Comment posted 2012-01-08 20:42:51] Despite knowing that such a study could have potential benefits to humankind, learning that the rats were undergoing stress treatment and made to grow tumors made me feel for them. However, if this study can prove the link between short term stress and the suppression of cancer cells, the benefits could be quite far reaching.
Harri Jussila @ LINK This is called hormesis by Suresh Rattan [Comment posted 2009-10-20 06:13:22] The phenomenon of short term and mild stress having beneficial effects for the body is well known, and is usually termed as physiological hormesis. Activating and strengthening cellular defense processes, which includes better immune surveillance (and hence "stopping" of cancer), by episodic stress or challenge is the hormetic route. Application of hormesis in aging research and interventions is well documented, and good research articles, review articles, and books can be found on the issue. Stress - a boon. by Venkata Ramanan [Comment posted 2009-09-28 21:28:39] Stress is an an inbuilt mechanism in the organism to survive.Unless stress is present, survival will be difficult.Stress stimulates organism into the mode of Face or Flee Reaction, which is essential for survival. No surprises on this affirmation .Continuous harping on Stress and repression of it leads to Psychological/Physical problems.Stress arises mainly due to , at the basic level, clash of instincts of Survival,Thirst,Hunger,Sex and gregariousness. When there is a clash among them, Stress is noticed.
Stress is managed best, when we do nothing about them, as the system knows how much it can take. Comment on this blog |
