New York Democratic senator and presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton told a Carnegie Institution audience on Thursday that a fictional TV show like CSI would inspire more students to pursue science, according to the Washington Post. "Make up a character," she said.

The comments were part of a speech in which Clinton promised to end the Bush administration's ''war on science,'' which we covered here. The speech was met with applause, hardly surprising for a prestigious institution (see our profile of one of its departments here) whose researchers are known for their work on stem cells, among other things.

The potential show's producers might start with a trip to the University of California, Davis, Veterinary Genetics Laboratory. A call to Wayne Grody is also probably in order. Calling all scientists in Hollywood!
